- ➤ The McDonald Farm Plant Sale will offer native perennials, organic vegetable and herb seedings, and garden supplies on May 10 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at its farm on 10S404 Knoch Knolls Road, while the Rotary Club of Naperville Sunrise will sponsor a diaper and mom’s essentials drive on May 9 from 8 to 10 a.m. in front of the Naperville County Club (25W570 Chicago Ave) and Naperville postal workers will collect non-perishable food donations for the Stamp Out Hunger drive on May 10. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A semi-truck hauling metal pipes overturned early Friday morning at 5:42 a.m. on the northbound Route 53 ramp and caused significant traffic delays as crews cleared the scene and police investigated the cause—no injuries were reported. FOX 32

- ➤ A 1954 photograph by local photographer Charles Koretke shows the Naperville Municipal Band posed on the steps in front of North Central College’s Pfeiffer Hall at 310 E. Benton Ave—this image reflects a part of the city’s rich musical history. Naperville Sun
- ➤ The Youth Jazz Ensemble of DuPage will compete at Lincoln Center in New York from May 7–11 in the Essentially Ellington Competition & Festival. The group, selected for the festival three times before, will hold a sendoff concert with guest saxophonist John Wojciechowski at 4 p.m. on May 4 at Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church in Huntley. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Naperville city officials hosted a traffic safety webinar on Wednesday to share plans that lower collisions by using engineering, enforcement and education—data showed 721 fewer crashes last year than in the pre-COVID era. Officials urged residents to provide detailed traffic complaints so engineers can target speeding, failure to yield and lane misuse on busy roads. Naperville News 17
- ➤ Naperville’s Park Board will vote this spring on a tribute project at Centennial Park proposed by Max’s Mission to honor Max Wijangco who died by suicide in 2022. The project calls for four murals and two concrete structures near the skate facility—MM Peters Construction Inc. will donate $5,000 in labor as the nonprofit seeks to cover a remaining cost of about $6,200.
