If you ride CTA, Metra or Pace, wants your input. The Northern Illinois Transit Authority's proposed 2027 operating budget is $5.02 billion, up from $4.3 billion. It's one budget covering NITA and the three agencies, something Chicago-area transit has never had.

NITA also added around $900 million in new funding to its $9.7 billion five-year capital plan, and the Red Line Extension gets the most. NITA's own operating budget would be $401 million, up from the former RTA's $48.8 million in 2026.
