Glenbard South's boys soccer team is going to state for the first time. The Raiders beat Fenton 3-1 Monday in the Class 2A Hinsdale South supersectional, barely two weeks after head coach Willie Fajkus died of heart complications.

“This is all in memory of coach William Fajkus, who deserved this.”

Raiders coach Mike Filipiak

The Raiders led 2-1 at the break and got a third goal early in the second half, when a Fenton player's pass toward his own goal went untouched into the net. Glenbard South plays Peoria Notre Dame in Friday's state semifinal at Rockford Guilford.
