Naperville North's young Huskies lost 20-14 to New Trier on Friday as mistakes, missed opportunities and 85 yards in penalties cost them the win.
New Trier broke a tie in the fourth quarter with a 27-yard touchdown, and coach Sean Drendel said his team did not make enough plays when needed—leading to the season opener loss.
Oswego junior quarterback Drew Kleinhans made his varsity debut Friday by throwing two touchdown passes and running in a key touchdown in a 31—15 win over Naperville Central, with his coach father keeping his emotions in check.
The Panthers’ defense held the host team to 40 yards in the first half and now prepares to face Geneva in Week 2.
