- ➤ Naperville police reported two cases of alleged street racing this week — one on Friday around 9:30 p.m. on Route 59 when a 24-year-old man from Mountain House, California was arrested, and another on August 4 around midnight on Washington Street when a 20-year-old man from Montgomery was charged as officers work to identify other drivers. - ➤ The Naperville Municipal Band welcomes four young musicians including Dayton Melaniphy, Nick Cristao, Theo Christopherson, and Sydney Phelps who bring fresh talent and years of early training. - ➤ On August 2nd and 3rd the third annual Chicagoland Halal Fest took place at Frontier Park in Naperville and drew over 20,000 people to enjoy international halal foods and cultural performances. - ➤ On August 4, the Naperville School District 203 board approved a statement that opposes a 20-year contract extension with IMEA beyond 2035—saying a longer deal would hurt its plan to cut carbon and reach net zero. - ➤ Hundreds of teachers and community members met Monday evening at Naperville Central High School to call for fair contracts ahead of the school year. Leaders said talks have stalled over salary and scheduling issues—federal mediator sessions are set for today and tomorrow as both sides work to avoid disruption when classes begin on Aug. 14.
