  • The Naperville Jaycees are asking for volunteers for the 2025 Last Fling festival scheduled for Labor Day Weekend (Aug. 29-Sept. 1) and invite community members, organizations, or businesses to help with tasks that range from food service to parking assistance in a four-day event held since the mid-1960s.  Positively Naperville

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Crews are working to remove storm debris and restore power after a storm hit Naperville Thursday afternoon — 450 customers lost power with efforts reducing outages as streets and sidewalks are cleared. City officials ask residents to report blocked roadways and use caution as more thunderstorms are predicted through early Sunday.  Naperville News 17

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Naperville City Council denied gas station owner Henry Patel’s proposal to expand the U-Haul operation at his Marathon station on W. Ogden Ave, saying the plan violated city parking space rules. The council advised Patel to improve the property by adding a new fence and evergreen planting — measures meant to address neighbor complaints — and to resubmit revised plans.  Naperville News 17
  • The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County is seeking a partner to repurpose the historic Oak Cottage at 23W171 Hobson Road in unincorporated Naperville—an important local landmark built in 1850. Interested groups must submit statements of interest by October 16 so the district can evaluate adaptive reuse proposals—planning a phased renovation expected to complete within three years.  Naperville News 17
