- ➤ Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church launched a Little Free Pantry to offer free, nonperishable food to people in need—volunteers restock the pantry and high school scouts helped build it. The pantry is located behind the church campus at 815 S. Washington St next to Edward Hospital. Daily Herald
- ➤ The 71st annual DuPage County Fair will begin on July 24 in Wheaton with drone light shows starting at 9:30 p.m. Thursday and 10:15 p.m. on Friday and Saturday—offering live music, axe throwing, animal exhibits, contests, and carnival rides through Sunday. Admission fees vary by age and a Mega Pass is available for a full day of rides. Daily Herald

- ➤ The Rotary Club of Naperville Sunrise will host its 28th Annual Rotary Ride on Sunday, August 10 at 3416 S. Route 59 — riders can choose from routes of 21, 41 or 62 miles while early bird registration costs $40 until July 31 and regular registration is $50 starting August 1. - ➤ Guzman y Gomez will tear down a vacant building to build a 2,600-square-foot restaurant with a drive-through and outdoor patio on the east side of Route 59 in southern Naperville—boosting the northern branch as part of a plan to serve the whole town. A new restaurant has also opened in Des Plaines near O’Hare offering extended hours and a full menu. Daily Herald
- ➤ Chicago-based Stan’s Donuts will open its 18th standalone location in Naperville this August at Block 59 at 408 S. Route 59. The grand opening on Saturday, August 9 at 6 a.m. will offer special treats for the first 100 customers, including a chance to win a Golden Donut that gives free donuts for life — with additional prizes such as a certificate for a KitchenAid Mixer and a framed print. - ➤ Charles Lawler, 54, was sentenced to 7 years and 8 months in federal prison for robbing a Naperville bank and four other financial institutions in a spree that began in 2021—his accomplice Tarandle Lee remains in custody awaiting sentencing. Naperville News 17

- ➤ Some neighbors in Lisle are worried about loud noise and bright lights from Benet Academy’s plan to modernize Baumgartner Gilbert Stadium — they fear the changes might lower property values in their quiet neighborhood. The school plans to add a synthetic field, modern lighting, a 2000 seat grandstand and portable visitor seating as part of a two phase upgrade, with the first phase set to finish by the 2026/27 school year if the village approves.
