June offers skywatchers a lineup: the Venus-Jupiter conjunction on June 9; Mercury’s greatest eastern elongation & new moon on June 15; the solstice bringing the longest day on June 21; & the Strawberry Moon on June 29.

Local residents can enjoy these events while looking up at the night sky.

Downtown Naperville now features 25 colorful sculptures of dogs (and one cat) that were unveiled on Wednesday by local businesses and painted by neighborhood artists.

The artworks remain on display along downtown sidewalks through September and invite residents to vote for their favorites online.

Twelve Naperville-area students were announced today as winners of college-funded National Merit Scholarships that offer awards from $500 to $2,500 per year for up to four years of study, and they come from all five local high schools, the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy, + one homeschooled student.
