- ➤ Northern Illinois Food Bank is offering free summer meals for kids from June 2 to Aug. 15 across 13 counties — 7,500 meals are served daily with no ID or registration required. A new mobile initiative, Family Fresh Mart, will distribute free boxed lunches and fresh produce at select neighborhood sites from June 9 to Aug. 1. Daily Herald
- ➤ Naperville resident Zac Larson is organizing the Solstice Century bike ride — a 100-mile event on June 20 that starts at Whalon Lake Forest Preserve to raise $100,000 for nonprofits in mental healthcare, community services and children’s support. Riders must pledge at least $1,000 and will ride multiple loops before enjoying live music, food and beer after the ride. Naperville News 17
- ➤ Eighteen giant duck sculptures painted by local artists were installed downtown Monday morning to mark the start of summer, with each duck showcasing a unique theme and sponsored by local businesses and organizations. A duck scavenger hunt runs at over 40 businesses and a Riverwalk Duck Race with a $1,981 prize is set for Friday to support the Naperville Riverwalk Foundation. Naperville News 17
- ➤ Naperville Fire Chief Mark Puknaitis honored two local heroes at a City Council meeting Tuesday, May 20—Chris Brown performed effective CPR on a musician who collapsed at church in late March and landscaper Tino Mora rescued a woman trapped in a submerged vehicle near the Naperville-Plainfield border. Puknaitis urged residents to learn life-saving skills so they can act quickly in emergencies. Naperville News 17

- ➤ Naperville's summer live music line-up will feature events such as Naper Settlement’s Naper Nights with WAR's tribute show on July 19—celebrating 50 years of their multi-platinum album—and River Sounds starting June 17 with live acoustic sets on the Riverwalk. The city will also host the Municipal Band’s concerts at Central Park on Thursday nights beginning June 5 and Naperville Jaycees’ Last Fling on Labor Day weekend. Positively Naperville
- ➤ Naper Settlement, an outdoor history museum in Naperville, is hosting a range of community events this June, including a walking tour on June 5, STEM drop-in sessions on June 7, 1890s fitness classes on June 10 and 17 and a community concert series on June 20 and 21. The museum is open Tuesday to Saturday (10 AM to 4 PM) and Sunday (1 to 4 PM) with general admission at $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and $8 for youth while Naperville residents, children under 4 and members get free entry.
