- ➤ The Fresh Market is expanding into redeveloping suburbs near Naperville—its eight Chicago-area locations include new stores in Naperville, Northbrook, and Algonquin while future openings are planned at Yorktown Center in Lombard later this year and in Schaumburg in late 2026. Daily Herald
- ➤ Sen. Patrick Joyce led a push with Illinois horse racing advocates and Decatur officials to urge lawmakers to pass a bill for a new racetrack and gaming facility while an auto racing simulator studio opened in South Barrington to offer immersive racing experiences. In Naperville a commission approved a townhouse and row house development and Catch 35 closed after 21 years, and a Whole Foods in St. Charles will open on June 25 at 9 a.m.—bringing new retail and dining options. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Naperville City Council voted 8—1 to proceed with a $42,000 study that will examine the electrical impact of a potential data center along the I-88 corridor, with the developer footing the cost while raising questions about significant load growth and environmental stress. Several councilmembers voiced concerns and cautioned that the study does not guarantee the project’s approval. Naperville News 17

- ➤ Boys and girls ages 7 to 20 raced on Frontenac Road in Naperville Saturday after inspections, weigh-ins, practice runs, and group photos. The competitors raced in three divisions — Stock, Superstock and Masters — with winners set to qualify for the World Championship race in Akron on July 14. Daily Herald
