COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Naperville American Legion Post 43 will honor 2025 Citizen of the Year Past Commander Nadia Baran at its Annual Past Commanders Dinner on April 26; the event will begin with a social hour at 5:30 p.m. and a buffet dinner will follow at 6:30 p.m. at the Judd Kendall VFW Hall (908 W. Jackson Avenue).  Positively Naperville

CRIME NEWS

  • Three Chicago women were charged with stealing over $300 in clothing when two entered the Nike Well Collective at 217 N. Main St. in downtown Naperville at 4:20 p.m. on Wednesday and fled in a car driven by a third who refused to stop for police—after a Chicago police helicopter tracked them into Chicago, authorities arrested the trio and they now face felony burglary and retail theft charges with one also charged with fleeing and eluding pending a May 5 court date while released under a condition not to enter any Nike store.  Naperville Sun
  • A suspect wanted for a Naperville home burglary crashed a stolen car at 2 a.m. on April 10th near Illinois Route 53 and Short Street in Lisle and fled on foot behind the Blake Lamb Funeral Home—Lisle Police have not yet located him despite using drone and K-9 units.  Naperville News 17

EDUCATION NEWS

  • School District 204’s board approved a 3.9% raise and renewed contracts for administrative and non-bargaining staff for the upcoming school year — the raise is lower than what teachers will negotiate— and teacher salary increases will be decided later.  Naperville Sun
  • IPSD 204 Superintendent Adrian Talley announced he will not renew his contract and will step down at the end of the 2025-26 school year after serving since 2020. The board will begin its search for a new superintendent by sending out a request for proposals Friday with proposals due April 25 — the replacement is set to start on July 1.  Naperville News 17

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Naperville Park District held two open houses at Fort Hill Activity Center Tuesday—where community members discussed needed handicap improvements—and accepted comments online until April 25. Officials will compile the input into a report for board review this summer, and approved changes are expected to take a few years to complete.  Naperville News 17
  • Naperville’s Public Utilities Advisory Board voted Tuesday night to renew the contract with the Illinois Municipal Electric Agency—ensuring the city stays with the coal-heavy provider for the next three decades despite environmental group concerns. The recommendation is not binding and the City Council will decide on the final energy plan after May 6.  Naperville Sun

  • Naperville North junior defender Addison Sitzman has become a key leader on the soccer team since joining as a freshman in 2023, known for her lively personality and strong communication skills. She shows her versatility by playing both defense and offense—scoring important goals and helping the Huskies maintain a solid defensive record.  Naperville Sun
