- ➤ On Tuesday, March 18, Naperville City Council chambers filled with community members to honor local Nina Menis, KidsMatter CEO—she received a proclamation from Mayor Scott Wehrli for raising the nonprofit's funding from $250,000 to over $1 million and empowering local youth. Naperville News 17
- ➤ Naperville was named No.1 on Niche’s Best Cities to Live list for the second year in a row and was rated the best city for public schools, buying a house, and raising a family—this ranking came from reviews and data from the U.S. Census, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Downtown Naperville will display 18 painted duck sculptures as part of its summer art tradition starting early June and lasting until September—8 have been delivered while 10 will arrive next week—and local businesses have sponsored the pieces with plans to revive the rubber duck race in the DuPage River. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Indian Prairie School District 204 plans to update French 2, AP Biology, AP U.S. History, and AP Environmental Science with new textbooks and digital resources if the board approves the plan on April 7. The district will also add two new courses, Criminal Law and History of the World through Media, next school year with materials costing $444,500 over six years—steps aimed at helping students meet social studies graduation requirements. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ At a meeting on March 19th, Naperville officials discussed T-Mobile’s proposal to replace antennas on the water tower at 1301 Clyde Drive with a new 190-foot tower nearby. Some residents worry about property values (and safety from RF emissions) while T-Mobile officials say strong cell service is needed, and commissioners recommended the project so the city council will review it next. - ➤ Naperville City Council candidate Nag Jaiswal claimed on Facebook that he was endorsed by U.S. Reps. Raja Krishnamoorthi and Danny Davis (both said they never endorsed him), and his campaign later revised the claim to note support from the Illinois Committee for Honest Government (a group linked to those names).
