COMMUNITY NEWS

  • At 10 a.m. Saturday, more than 3,000 participants will start the Naperville St. Patrick’s Day Parade at Naperville North High School—honoring the memory of founding father Kevin Dolan who died Feb. 25—as they march through downtown to Naperville Central High School. The event features Irish dancers, bagpipe bands and local groups with Loaves and Fishes Community Services as grand marshal in a kid-friendly, family event.  Naperville Sun

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Bricks & Minifigs is opening a Lego resale store at Naper West Plaza, 564 Route 59 on Saturday, April 5 at 11 a.m. The store will sell new boxes and used sets, let customers trade pieces and build custom figures, and host events with free custom Lego torsos for the first 100 shoppers.  Naperville News 17

CRIME NEWS

  • The Naperville Police Department reported lower overall crime in 2024 compared to 2023—property crimes, personal crime victims, and crimes against society declined, though shoplifting incidents rose and traffic crashes hit their highest level since 2019, with Police Chief Jason Arres urging drivers to follow traffic laws.  Naperville Sun

CULTURE NEWS

  • Naperville Men’s Glee Club is hosting the free Men Sing! Choral Festival on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Grace United Methodist Church (300 E. Gartner Road) starting at 8AM with workshops, networking, and rehearsals that lead to a 3PM concert, with audience tickets priced between $10 and $15. Participants who want to sing can join free by registering online or at the door (they will also receive music scores and lunch).  Positively Naperville

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Indian Prairie School District 204 approved its 2026-27 calendar, which starts Aug. 17 and ends May 28 with emergency days in early June — the board also rescheduled fall parent-teacher conferences to allow students consecutive days off around the Nov. 3 election.  Naperville Sun
  • Indian Prairie School District 204 will spend $9.8 million this summer to upgrade entryway security by replacing exterior doors and hardware at 11 elementary schools—measures approved after voter-backed bond funding. The board also approved a contract for LED lighting and control upgrades at additional schools to boost energy efficiency and secure nearly $456,000 in utility rebates.  Naperville News 17

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Naperville District 203 School Board will vote later this month on a plan to cut greenhouse gas emissions over the next 10 years and aim for net-zero by 2050. If approved on March 24, a committee will be set up to oversee projects in buildings, transportation and waste—laying out a 25-year roadmap for a greener school system.  Naperville Sun

  • Matt Le Cren reviewed local girls soccer teams ahead of the 2025 season and found that Naperville North, led by star Claire DeCook, returns many experienced players while Naperville Central counts on veterans and debut forward Callie Tumilty—both teams set strong for the coming challenges.  Naperville Sun
