  • William Grover Latshaw was one of Naperville's first foot-route mail carriers who walked more than 200,000 miles along Washington Street and the West Side, delivering mail for 42 years before retiring in 1950.  Positively Naperville

  • Women’s boutique Francesca’s announced it will close its shops nationwide, including the Naperville store at 25 W. Jefferson Ave after 15 years of service. Inventory is now being liquidated — the store’s closing date remains undecided.  Naperville News 17

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Metra is reducing its train schedule today as extreme cold lowers speeds on all lines (extra staff will manage any issues). Commuters should check metra.com for alternate schedules to stay updated.  FOX 32

HEALTH NEWS

  • Naperville residents are advised by the American Red Cross to follow 10 cold-weather safety tips to avoid frostbite and hypothermia as Arctic air brings dangerous low temperatures. REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • On Jan. 21, the Planning and Zoning Commission recommended a four-story condo proposal at 222 S. Mill St in downtown Naperville & Lakewest Custom Homes plans to raze a 1966 office building & the proposal will move to city council for a final vote.  Naperville News 17

SPORTS NEWS

  • North Central College celebrated a strong fall season with women's soccer and tennis achieving perfect records, men's cross country capturing its 51st title, football headed to the national semifinals, and women's triathlon winning a fourth national championship.
