  • Velvet Taco opened its fourth Illinois restaurant in Naperville on Monday at Block 59, drawing dozens of customers who received perks like a free $10 gift card and hat. The fast-casual spot offers globally inspired tacos and a weekly limited-time flavor and also serves bowls, nachos, alcoholic drinks, and red velvet cake made from scratch.  Naperville News 17

CULTURE NEWS

  • High school musicians from seven local schools will perform a holiday concert — Amid the Winter’s Snow — at Naperville Covenant Church on Dec. 7 at 4:00 p.m., led by Pianist and Director Alexander J. Amato who will mix traditional carols with modern songs.  Positively Naperville

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Indian Prairie School District 204 updated its report card data after Illinois lowered the English and math benchmarks and switched high school juniors back to the ACT. District officials said the new numbers aren’t comparable to past data—new summative designations will be used next year to better show student progress.  Naperville News 17
  • Nine IPSD 204 school resource officers attended a board meeting to explain how they build trust in schools as teachers, mentors, and safety officers.   • Officials dedicated the redesigned Riverwalk Eagle Street Gateway on Nov. 14 after months of work that began in March, and it is now open for public use with improved accessibility and a refreshed iconic sculpture (Landforms). Mayor Scott Wehrli and Baumgartner Construction led the upgrades (costing $3.67M) as part of the City’s Riverwalk 2031 Master Plan.  Positively Naperville
