  • Naperville offers many events this weekend from November 7th to 9, including a food drive at Block 59, a farmer’s market, and live shows such as The Rocky Horror Show. The city also hosts activities at Rotary Hill and dining at local favorites like Kreger’s and Mesón Sabika—each event designed to celebrate fall and honor community spirit.  Positively Naperville
  • Naperville Woman’s Club member and Marine Corps veteran Karen Breese recalled her challenging boot camp and data processing work during the Vietnam War era, detailing her journey from rigorous training to sensitive assignments.   • Chicken Salad Chick opened its newest location near Block 59 on Tuesday morning and drew dozens lining up for grand opening giveaways, with the first 100 customers earning a free large chicken salad every month for a year. The restaurant, which offers over 12 freshly prepared flavors, plans to open another location in Glen Ellyn on Nov. 18 — adding a fresh dining option for Naperville.  Naperville News 17
  • Naperville City Council has indefinitely tabled the Dutch Bros drive-thru proposal at Market Meadows because unresolved concerns about traffic flow, safety, and neighborhood livability remain. City Attorney Michael DiSanto noted the proposal may return for further review if the applicant addresses these issues—residents have shared mixed feedback on the development.  Naperville News 17

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Indian Prairie School District 204 board approved a $3.1 million measure to install new synthetic turf and resurface tracks at all high schools before the new school year—using Omnia Partners for faster delivery and FieldTurf for the installation. The project will start this spring to complete work at Metea Valley, Waubonsie, and Neuqua Valley in time for classes to resume.  Naperville News 17
  • North Central College hosted a lively Homecoming Weekend that brought together alumni, students, and community members to celebrate college pride. The weekend featured an Outstanding Alumni Awards dinner, the dedication of the Hal and Benna Wilde Res/Rec Center honoring the college’s ninth president, and athletic wins by the women’s soccer and football teams with a 35-0 shutout against Wheaton College — a memorable event for the campus.  Positively Naperville

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Eagle Street Gateway on the Naperville Riverwalk is now open to the public and improves access between the upper and lower paths by reusing historic features—funded by the city and a $900,000 federal grant. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is set for Nov. 14, and local residents are already using the new space.  Naperville News 17
  • The Naperville Fire Department reminded residents that most home fires start in the kitchen and advised them to stay near the stove, turn off burners when leaving the room, and keep flammable items away—residents should also test smoke alarms monthly and keep a proper extinguisher nearby.  Positively Naperville
