- ➤ Former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan reported to federal prison to begin his seven-year sentence for corruption after a conviction on 10 counts of bribery, conspiracy, and wire fraud—he was ordered to pay $2.5 million in restitution for using his influence to favor a utility giant. - ➤ Kennedy Junior High School was named as one of the first winners of the Governor’s Blue Ribbon Schools award by Gov.
