  • Naperville Park District is hosting Halloween-themed events throughout October—featuring Creepy Critters Month at Knoch Knolls Nature Center, Ghost Stories in the Park from October 3 to October 5 at Riverwalk Grand Pavilion, and Halloween Happening on October 26 for young children.  Positively Naperville
  • In south Naperville, U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Tomee Phetsisouk received the keys to his brand new, fully furnished, mortgage free home under the Built to Honor program. PulteGroup partnered with Building Homes for Heroes to build the house—honoring his service—and his family looked forward to settling in.  Naperville News 17

  • The George, a new tavern-style restaurant led by Will Cullen and Dave Miller, opens today at 4 p.m. in downtown Naperville—its menu offers classic American fare including the Badge 13 burger—and pays tribute to the city’s history through its design and concept.  Naperville News 17

CULTURE NEWS

  • Cress Creek Garden Club celebrated its 50th year this fall at Naper Settlement with an afternoon tea that featured remarks by Naperville Mayor Scott Wehrli—Naper Settlement also planted a tree with a plaque at the Paw Paw House to mark the milestone. The club has maintained historic gardens since donating trees in 1979 and has earned awards for preserving Naperville’s heritage.  Positively Naperville

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Naperville Park District is holding five open houses this month to discuss a potential funding proposal that will support park improvement projects, including new trails and indoor recreation facilities. Residents can meet park staff and get more information before voting on the proposal on March 17—details were sent by letter on Sept. 24.  Naperville News 17

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Naperville's real estate market has shifted to a more balanced pace as sales slow, days on market increase, and prices hold steady—giving buyers more room to negotiate. In August, inventory remained tight at 1.4 months and 29 homes went under contract in the $601,000 to $650,000 range, signaling a healthier market for buyers and sellers.  Positively Naperville
