Naperville's Commander Dan Shanower September 11 Memorial displays artifacts including limestone from the Pentagon's Lean on Us sculpture, a beam from the World Trade Center and granite from the Flight 93 crash area.
The memorial was dedicated on Sept. 11, 2003 as part of the Century Walk Public Art Collection.
Artist Dodie Mondero (Naperville Public Art Curator) restored the 1923 'The Spirit of the American Navy' statue early Monday morning, Aug.
10 at Burlington Square Park south of the Naperville Train Station and is set to restore the Spirit of the American Doughboy on the park's west side.
