- ➤ 9/11 survivor Laura Murphy will speak at Naperville’s Sept. 11 Remembrance Ceremony on Thursday at the Cmdr. Dan Shanower memorial along the Riverwalk next to the Municipal Center (400 S. Eagle St.). Local leaders including Mayor Scott Wehrli, Police Chief Jason Arres and Deputy Fire Chief Philip Giannattasio will add their remarks, and the event will start at 6 p.m. with plans to move indoors if weather becomes a factor. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A body discovered last month in Springbrook Prairie Forest Preserve has been identified as Sinmi Abosede — the missing Naperville mother of four last seen walking near her home in July — and the DuPage County Coroner will perform an autopsy on Friday. ABC7 Chicago
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Naperville Park District will hold community meetings this fall to gather feedback on potential new projects and decide if a referendum for additional funding will appear on a spring or fall ballot in 2026—this may include an indoor aquatic facility and other capital improvements.
