COMMUNITY NEWS

  • 9/11 survivor Laura Murphy will speak at Naperville’s Sept. 11 Remembrance Ceremony on Thursday at the Cmdr. Dan Shanower memorial along the Riverwalk next to the Municipal Center (400 S. Eagle St.). Local leaders including Mayor Scott Wehrli, Police Chief Jason Arres and Deputy Fire Chief Philip Giannattasio will add their remarks, and the event will start at 6 p.m. with plans to move indoors if weather becomes a factor.  Naperville News 17

CRIME NEWS

  • A body discovered last month in Springbrook Prairie Forest Preserve has been identified as Sinmi Abosede — the missing Naperville mother of four last seen walking near her home in July — and the DuPage County Coroner will perform an autopsy on Friday.  ABC7 Chicago

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Naperville Park District will hold community meetings this fall to gather feedback on potential new projects and decide if a referendum for additional funding will appear on a spring or fall ballot in 2026—this may include an indoor aquatic facility and other capital improvements. Brad Wilson said more details on meeting dates and funding options will be announced later this month.  Naperville News 17

  • Alexa Miller nearly holed out from over 100 yards for Naperville Central during a match at Naperbrook Golf Course. Her shot on the par four—ninth hole landed within a foot and came up inches short of an eagle, showing impressive skill in wet conditions.  Naperville News 17
