The free Jaycees Last Fling takes place downtown from Friday, Sept.
4 to Monday, Sept. 7 with live music, carnival rides + a breakdancing contest on Saturday and Special Needs Day on Sunday, while a Labor Day Parade kicks off Monday at Naperville North High School at 10 a.m.
Naperville Park District hosts fall activities including golf at Naperbrook and Springbrook, hayrides with free hot chocolate — park trails and fall colors, a community vehicle event for kids at Commissioner’s Park on Sept.
14, and musical auditions on Sept. 26 and Sept. 27.
🎓 Education
Scott Elementary welcomed back longtime custodian Dean Baki Tuesday after he recovered from three heart attacks and a six-month rehabilitation brought on by a severe health scare.
Students shared fist bumps & high fives as he resumed his role at the school.
🌲 Environment
This fall, Naperville Park District will use park crews and third-party contractors to conduct prescribed ground-level burns at several parks and Springbrook Golf Course (weather conditions permitting).
The burns will help clear invasive weeds and plant debris to protect healthy ecosystems.
🏥 Health
DuPage County health officials announced the county's first human case of West Nile virus this year and advised residents to fight mosquitoes by removing standing water + using EPA-registered repellents.
The Personal Protection Index is at a moderate risk level today.
