Naperville’s Last Fling is a 60-year end-of-summer event held Labor Day weekend in downtown Naperville that offers rides such as a revived Ferris wheel and new attractions like the Zipper—visitors must follow new clear bag and youth supervision rules while enjoying live music, food, and a Labor Day parade starting Monday at 10 a.m. Funds raised from the festival benefit local nonprofits.
Naperville will welcome its second Chick-fil-A drive-thru location on Sept.
4 at 6:30 a.m. at 3320 S. Illinois Route 59, featuring outdoor seating and services including carry-out, third-party delivery, and a dedicated Mobile Thru lane. Owner Mark Cabrera will launch an opening day promotion where customers in cow-themed attire receive a free entrée or kid’s meal plus the restaurant donates $25,000 to Feeding America and joins the Shared Table program for surplus food.
Naperville police arrested 20 year old Johnny Lee Cameron Wright for aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon after spotting a loaded handgun in a parked car at the Topgolf parking lot on Aug.
21st—this is the 15th gun related arrest in the area this year.
Retired Naperville detective Rich Wistocki—President of Be Sure Cyber Training—advised school officials on preventing shootings and protecting students from cyber threats in the wake of a recent shooting at Annunciation Catholic School and Church in Minnesota on August 29.
Naperville will host a new culinary event this September—Vegan Chef Challenge—where local restaurants, cafes, and food trucks will offer vegan dishes that community members can try and vote on online.
The event, hosted by Vegan Outreach, will run from Sept. 1 to Sept. 30 and aims to show how tasty and healthy a vegan diet can be.
