The 60th annual Last Fling in Naperville is held this Labor Day weekend along Jackson Avenue at Eagle Street—featuring new carnival rides, a Special Needs Day, family contests, and a meet-and-greet with Queen Elsa, while the Labor Day parade on Monday honors Liz Spencer as Grand Marshal; funds raised help local nonprofits. This celebration, hosted by the Naperville Jaycees, highlights ongoing community traditions and support.
Naperville Park District will begin construction on Tuesday, Sept.
2 at Ron Ory Community Garden Plots at 811 South West Street to replace the gravel lot with permeable pavers—gardeners in the construction buffer zone must stop gardening by Monday, Sept. 1—and the project, partly funded by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and DuPage County, will improve ADA access and water drainage while visitors park elsewhere.
Naperville hosts many family-friendly events this Labor Day Weekend with activities planned from a $14 breakfast kickoff at Quigley’s to the Jaycees Last Fling festival—featuring parades, music, art tours, and local dining opportunities.
Residents can enjoy events at Kreger’s, the Farmer’s Market, and more as the weekend unfolds from Friday morning through Monday.
A new Chick-fil-A will open on Sept.
4 at 3320 S. Illinois Route 59 in Naperville—serving drive-thru, carry-out, third-party delivery, and outdoor seating. Owner Mark Cabrera said cow-themed attire on opening day will get guests a free entrée or kid's meal.
Archie Banks, 63, was charged with armed carjacking, kidnapping and battery after his alleged attacks on a Naperville woman on August 25th near a BP gas station and on a Warrenville woman on August 20th—he is held without bail ahead of his September 22nd court appearance.
Naperville Sister Cities Foundation will host its 5th Hispanic Heritage Festival in Central Park from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sept.
13. Locals will enjoy booths with food, art and crafts, live Spanish music, and dance—celebrating Mexican Independence Day and Latin heritage—and also see awards given in education, business and culture.
