  • Dutch Bros has proposed to build a drive-thru coffee shop at Market Meadows Shopping Center in Naperville—city officials split their vote and sent the proposal to the city council amid concerns over heavy traffic during the grand opening. The company says it will use a dedicated traffic management plan and plans to open 35 stores in the Chicago area by the end of 2026.  Naperville News 17
  • Oswald’s Pharmacy, one of Naperville’s oldest businesses, will celebrate its 150th anniversary this fall with a ribbon cutting on Sept. 26. Sixth-generation owner Alex Anderson said the pharmacy has renovated its space and plans a time capsule and limited-time soda line — a nod to its early soda fountain days — to honor its long history in town.  Naperville News 17

  • Naperville teachers set a strike date for Tuesday, August 26 after contract talks with District 203 stalled—federal mediator talks will soon resume— as the union asks for better pay and school day changes.  ABC7 Chicago

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Councilwoman Allison Longenbaugh announced at Tuesday’s Naperville City Council meeting that she is stepping down from her seat—effective Monday, Aug. 25—after accepting a job opportunity that does not allow her to hold elected office. The eight council members will choose a replacement by Oct. 21 to serve the remainder of her term.  Naperville News 17

  • Naperville officials sprayed areas on Jackson Avenue and Oleson Drive after mosquitoes trapped there tested positive for West Nile Virus today — residents are urged to remove standing water and wear repellent to protect themselves.  ABC7 Chicago
