Two Naperville World War II veterans each over 100 years old were honored with special Quilts of Valor at Independence Village on Thursday night.
The Rotary Club event started by Alma Jones celebrated their service with a touching mid-year tribute.

Claire Shen, a junior at Naperville Central High School, earned second place in the Classic Art category at the international Young Artists and Authors Showcase for her painting (Through the Looking Glass).
The work was inspired by a train ride from Naperville to Chicago and praised for its creativity.

Naperville Public Library invites teens (grades 7 to 12) to submit ideas for summer 2027 events via its Teen Pitch Program.
Applications open Aug. 1 and close Sept. 30, and top teams will be invited for a live pitch in mid-October.
Naperville School District 203 will extend superintendent Dan Bridges' contract to June 30, 2031 pending board approval at its Aug.
3 meeting. Bridges, who began in 2011, has steered the district to 12 National Blue Ribbon awards — a testament to his successful leadership.
