On Sunday, Sept. 7, award-winning chefs on Water Street will serve a six-course meal outdoors from 5-9 p.m. to benefit West Suburban Community Pantry, and guests in all-white attire will enjoy live music by Pete Ellman Jazz — reservations for individual tickets and tables of eight are available until Sept. 3.
Naperville Sunrise Rotary will host its 28th annual Rotary Ride on Sunday, Aug.
10 at 3416 S. Route 59 as riders choose from 21 mile, 41 mile, or 62 mile routes — early bird registration is $40 until July 31 then $50 after that. The ride benefits child nutrition programs, a respite initiative, and Boy Scouts camp scholarships — riders also receive a custom tech T shirt with snacks before and a meal after the ride while following road safety and helmet rules.
On July 26, the graves of Pvt.
William Barber and Sgt. George E. Hall were restored and rededicated at Naperville Cemetery by Fort Payne Chapter NSDAR (a local honor group) and Judd Kendall VFW Post (active in restoration projects) with Mayor Scott Wehrli present during rifle salutes, taps and wreath placements funded by a $2,500 SECA grant and a donation.
Naperville District 203 officials and the Naperville Unit Education Association are in contract talks as the union began the posting process—publicly sharing contract offers—that may disrupt the start of school.
Both sides are in mediation while also debating changes to school times, leaving the final schedule in question.
