Six Naperville teen artists were selected in a city contest to brighten streetlight controller boxes near Naperville Central and Naperville North high schools, with artwork featuring hot air balloons, a waterfall, and seasonal themes (to be installed by June 30).

City Clerk Dawn Portner praised the project (highlighting local creative talent) as a way to transform everyday infrastructure into art.

An Elgin man, Rocky Ahmedyar, who is accused of ambushing his estranged wife outside a Naperville home and firing a shot that nearly missed her, was denied pretrial release in DuPage County on June 18 and faces charges including attempted first-degree murder, aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated stalking, and a violation of an order of protection with his next court date set for July 14.

On Tuesday, music filled the Naperville Riverwalk as River Sounds kicked off the free summer series organized by the Downtown Naperville Alliance, featuring local jazz led by Mark Cabinian and an opera performance by Sladjana Saric from a boat on the river.
