COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Indivisible Naperville is planning a peaceful rally at the Municipal Center on Saturday, June 14, which will feature remarks by humanitarian activist Suzanne Akhras and a short march through downtown—over 1,000 people have signed up online—and an increased police presence to ensure safety.  Naperville News 17
  • Naperville residents can enjoy many events this Father’s Day weekend starting today with a used book sale at Mill Street Elementary from 9AM to 8PM and a meal at Kreger’s Brat and Sausage Haus from 10AM to 3PM, along with a resale shop that benefits Little Friends. Saturday offers a farmers market, a free vintage car show downtown, a Juneteenth celebration at Rotary Hill, and a riverwalk music show—Sunday features fishing, dining at Mesón Sabika and free Century Walk Tours.  Positively Naperville

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Cheesecake Factory will open a new restaurant at Naperville’s Block 59 dining district on Tuesday, June 17. The restaurant will offer over 250 menu selections and more than 30 cheesecake varieties—part of a redevelopment that adds an outdoor event plaza and several other dining spots.  Daily Herald

CRIME NEWS

  • Willie Carter, a 25-year-old Chicago man, pleaded guilty on March 13th to armed robbery at a Speedway gas station in Addison on January 30th and was sentenced to 25 years in prison—his crime triggered a high-speed chase with about 20 police vehicles that ended when his car struck a marked police car.  FOX 32

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Indian Prairie School District 204 hired Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates to search for its next superintendent as Dr. Adrian Talley will step down next year. The district will begin community engagement in August and aims to select the new leader by mid-December for a July 1 start.  Naperville News 17
