- ➤ The Naperville Fire Department warns that oily rags soaked in oils such as linseed, motor, or cooking oil can heat up enough to catch fire if left piled up. Fire safety experts advise drying the rags and storing them in a metal container (with water and detergent) and following hazardous waste guidelines (as recommended by the department). - ➤ Indian Community Outreach announced it will scale back its 2025 India Day celebrations because new city mandates + added security measures increased costs by over $150,000 and forced the cancellation of the Rotary Hill festival and evening concert. The nonprofit will hold the India Day Parade from Naperville Central High School on Aug. 10 and is considering an alternate event later this year before planning full programming in 2026. - ➤ Welch Elementary School hosted its annual Clap Out event on Tuesday, celebrating more than 100 fifth graders as they prepared to move to Scullen Middle School. - ➤ Mosquito samples collected on May 27 in Roselle + Medinah and Clarendon Hills + Burr Ridge in DuPage County tested positive for West Nile virus, and health officials raised the risk level to one even though no human cases have been reported so far. FOX 32

- ➤ Naperville sellers saw a strong market in April with only 1.1 months of inventory and homes closing at 100.5% of their list price — homes were under contract in about 20 days.
