Neuqua Valley High School teacher Laura Walan was named the 2025 Health Education Teacher of the Year by the Illinois Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance at a board meeting on May 19.
She has spent 22 years teaching health literacy and will share her ideas at an upcoming conference — a nod to her innovative work in helping students sort through mixed health messages.
