- ➤ Naperville Police Chief Jason Arres said gun-related arrests have grown in the past five years—citing a recent April 18 arrest at Topgolf where patrols found a handgun in plain view and a second weapon without proper documentation—while officers continue checking parking lots to keep the city safe. - ➤ A Will County judge granted a two-year no-contact order against Neuqua Valley High teacher William Schaub, 56, accused of grooming and sexually abusing a 16-year-old student—he was arrested on April 3 and will appear in court on May 21. Daily Herald

- ➤ The Edward Foundation awarded $20,000 in scholarships to 10 local high school student volunteers who provided services at Edward Hospital by greeting visitors, delivering flowers, and transporting patients. - ➤ Bill Novack, Naperville’s Director of Transportation, Engineering, and Development, will retire on May 2 after more than 30 years of service—helping shape major infrastructure projects and city growth, and he said he looks forward to spending more time with his family. - ➤ Naperville police and fire unions reached new three-year agreements with the city that run through the end of 2027—restoring contracts for 149 police officers and 189 firefighters and paramedics who worked without a deal since January 1—and the deals include planned wage increases and modest benefit changes.
