COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Naperville Jaycees Great Egg Hunt was held Saturday at Frontier Sports Complex where families braved steady rain to search for over 14,000 colorful eggs (donations were collected for DuPage Pads).  Daily Herald
  • On Saturday, HSS Naperville-Aurora and SEWA organized an Earth Day highway cleanup on 75th Street when over 30 local volunteers split into groups and cleaned trash from both sides of the road in about an hour—marking ten years of this tradition. The organizers said they will hold more cleanups later this year with the next one set for June.  Naperville News 17

  • This week, regional business news included Arlington Heights boosting outdoor dining, Palatine discussing video gambling, and Wauconda acting to revive its downtown—while in Naperville, Barnes & Noble will open a new store on Jackson Avenue on April 23rd and a local builder got council approval for a senior-focused residential community near downtown.  Daily Herald

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Sindt Woods is at the west end of the Riverwalk near the Jefferson Avenue Bridge where walkers can see turtles, ducks, and other wildlife. The Naperville Park District resumed the Riverwalk Shoreline Stabilization Project on April 14 to install stone breaks and native plants—sections of the path may be closed temporarily.  Positively Naperville

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. JB Pritzker supports a bill to require pharmacy benefit managers to change practices that hurt independent pharmacies and raise drug costs for patients. Lawmakers in Springfield have not formally introduced the measure yet — closed-door negotiations continue as critics and industry reps debate its impact.  Naperville Sun
