EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Twenty-eight local high schoolers were named as candidates for the 2025 U.S. Presidential Scholars program according to the U.S. Department of Education, including 19 from Indian Prairie School District 204 and 6 from Naperville School District 203. The candidates will be reviewed in April and up to 161 students will later be honored for their academic and leadership achievements. Naperville News 17
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Voters in several Chicago suburbs cast ballots on April 1 to choose village presidents and decide on key local issues, and FOX 32 continued to update live vote counts as ballots were tallied. The updates cover contests in Cook County and surrounding areas such as DuPage and Will counties — with referenda on local government changes and public safety on the ballot. FOX 32
- ➤ Unofficial results from the 2025 Naperville election show that incumbents and select newcomers are set to win four-year terms in races for City Council, two school boards and the Park District Board. Votes from DuPage and Will counties came from mail, early and in-person ballots and final certification is still pending (counts pending). Naperville News 17

- ➤ Two 10 week old puppies, Valentino and Valentina, were rescued in Roselle hours before a planned euthanasia on Valentine's Day and now need a loving home that provides a fenced yard — adopters must complete a home check within an hour's drive — to ensure they adjust safely. FOX 32
- ➤ Twelve suburban breweries, including Blind Corner Brewery and Solemn Oath Brewery from Naperville, will launch Links & Drinks—a mini golf promotion that will run from April 7 to 30 and enter players into a prize drawing. California Pizza Kitchen will celebrate its 40th anniversary by returning classic menu items and offering a hidden prize card through May 11, Clara’s in Woodridge will offer throwback specials until April 10, Fogo de Chão will open a new Schaumburg location later this month, and Evanston will host its first Central Street Restaurant Week from April 7 to 13.
