COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The City of Naperville invites high school artists to submit original artwork to wrap six streetlight controller boxes near Naperville North and Naperville Central high schools, and submissions are free through April 30. High school students (aged 13 to 18) must follow size guidelines (50 inches tall, 30 inches wide and 16.5 inches deep) as selected artists will be notified by Tuesday, May 20 and designs will be installed by Monday, June 30.  Positively Naperville
  • The Naperville Memorial Day Parade Committee has opened registration for marching bands, scouts, Veterans' organizations, and community groups to join the parade on Memorial Day, with the deadline to sign up set for May 1 (details are on the parade website). The event will include vintage vehicles assisting Veterans and will start at 10:30 a.m. on Memorial Day from Jackson Avenue and West Street.  Positively Naperville

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Neuqua Valley High School teacher Beth Knuth was named Illinois Marketing Educator of the Year by Illinois DECA and will be honored at the school board meeting on Monday, May 24—recognizing her leadership in advising the DECA club and coding programs.  Naperville News 17

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Residents are invited to attend the Public Utilities Advisory Board meeting on Tuesday, April 8 at 5:00 p.m. in Council Chambers (Naperville Municipal Center) to discuss proposals for the city's electric service contract with IMEA that expires in 2035; City Council will review plans for rates, budgets, and system improvements at the meeting.  Positively Naperville

SPORTS NEWS

  • Former Naperville North basketball star Greta Kampschroeder led Michigan to a strong NCAA Tournament appearance, finishing her senior season with career-high averages and a key win on March 21. She said her renewed joy in the game set the stage for playing professionally overseas this fall — a step she feels ready to take after overcoming challenges in her college career.  Naperville Sun
  • Naperville North senior Abby Penn switched from playing forward to become a key defender and now leads the team as co-captain while earning praise for her two assists and hard work. Her training with her pro soccer playing brother (Josh Penn) has helped her learn new skills and fulfill her dream on defense.  Naperville Sun
