Nearly 50 high school students from Naperville School District 203 picked free prom dresses at a recent event organized by nine local moms.

The Dress Up 203 program partnered with local boutiques—Peaches donated 87 dresses—and provided an on-site alterations team to help students achieve a perfect fit for prom night.

Turning Pointe Autism Foundation in Naperville will mark Autism Awareness Month in April with events such as a City Council proclamation on April 2, a Kendra Gives Back sale at Downtown Naperville, a celebrity bartending event at Go Brewing on April 10, and fundraisers through local car dealerships, KidSnips haircuts, and restaurant promotions. Local businesses and organizations are backing the effort — 20% of sales and 100% of tips at key events will benefit the foundation — to support educational programs and services for individuals with autism.

Naperville residents have a busy weekend with early voting at the Municipal Center open daily until Election Day on April 1, the final farewell to school crossing guards on Friday, and Spring Break starting March 31 for local schools.

Additional events include a Vietnam War Veterans Day ceremony at Veterans Park at 10:30 on Saturday — a Friday Night Fish Fry at Judd Kendall VFW, North Central College musical performances, and Memorial Day Parade sign-ups open through May 1.

Eight candidates are running for four city council seats in Naperville and are focusing on public safety and needed infrastructure improvements — incumbents and new faces propose ideas to address a $6.1 million grocery tax shortfall, delay costly projects, and explore renewable energy and safer bike and pedestrian paths. These candidates aim to keep the city safe and maintain quality services while seeking ways to boost revenue without raising taxes.

Three Chicago suburbs, including Naperville, Clarendon Hills, and Hinsdale were named among Niche's top 50 Best Places to Live in America.

Naperville ranked highest in Illinois at No. 23 with strong schools and a family-friendly vibe — Clarendon Hills and Hinsdale made the list at No. 25 and No. 29.
