About this event
The first TubaChristmas was held at the Rockefeller Center Ice Rink in New York City in 1974. It was created by Harvey Phillips to honor his teacher Bill Bell, who was born on Christmas Day in 1902. This year, over 290 TubaChristmas concerts are held all over the world, including in Australia, Canada, and Costa Rica. The Harvey Phillips Foundation administers each concert. It is a tax-exempt, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the education and appreciation of the tuba and euphonium arts. Further information about the history of TubaChristmas and the Harvey Phillips Foundation may be found on their website.
Participants range in age from 10 years old to 80 years old, and they come from all over the United States to participate in the Naperville concert. TubaChristmas-Naperville is directed and coordinated by David Carroll, who directs elementary and middle school bands in Naperville District 203. You may find more information at TubaChristmasNaperville.com.
