About this event
🏝️ Roblox Studio: Island Architect & Boss Arena (2-Day Coding Camp)
From open waters to epic battles: design a custom 3D world, script an active economy, and conquer your own boss encounter!
Move beyond standard obstacle courses! Over two immersive days, campers step behind the scenes of Roblox Studio to become professional game developers and Lua programmers. Starting with an empty ocean baseplate, campers use procedural terrain tools to sculpt a custom 3D island, code a full player currency and upgrade economy from scratch, and repurpose those underlying variables and state systems to program an interactive arena boss battle.
📅 Quick Event Details
• Duration: 2 Days (Full-Day, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
• Target Ages: 7–14 (Campers grouped into Junior Dev and Advanced Scripting tracks)
• Tools Used: Roblox Studio & Lua Scripting
• Location: CodeForce STEM Academy (25 Jefferson St, Oswego, IL)
• Prerequisites: Basic keyboard/mouse navigation; no prior coding experience required.
🥪 Lunch & Refreshments
• Lunch: Campers should bring a nut-free packed lunch and a labeled, refillable water bottle each day.
• Snacks Provided: CodeForce provides a complimentary mid-morning and afternoon light snack (pretzels, fruit snacks, or crackers).
🚀 What Campers Will Build & Code
• Procedural 3D World Generation: Campers master the Roblox Studio Terrain Editor to carve rivers, shape volcanic caverns, and place custom flora and architecture.
• Server-Side Lua Scripting: Campers write real industry Lua code—learning variables, functions, conditional statements (if-then), and server-client communication.
• Dynamic Player Economy: Learn how professional simulators work by creating leaderstats, item drop loops, collection triggers, and inventory deduction logic.
• Boss AI & Combat Mechanics: Build a fully functioning arena encounter featuring boss health bars, attack phase routines, telegraph hitboxes, and victory loot triggers.
• Publishing & Multiplayer Playtesting: Campers host a live multiplayer server with their lab peers to stress-test their boss fight, balance their economy, and publish the completed experience to their Roblox account to share at home!
🧠 Why Parents Love CodeForce
At CodeForce, screen time transforms into genuine engineering literacy. Campers don't merely consume games—they architect them from first principles. Guided by experienced tech mentors in a dedicated lab environment, students build critical thinking, 3D spatial reasoning, and software architecture skills while developing games they genuinely care about.
Important Note: This camp is an independent STEAM learning event hosted by CodeForce and is not an official Roblox® product, nor is it endorsed by or associated with Roblox Corporation.
🎟️ Reserve Your Child's Developer Station!
Stations are capped to maintain low mentor-to-student ratios for hands-on debugging support.
